Yes, I am in the lovely country on Chile. The longest country on earth… I think. At the moment it has been extremely hot! I have not experienced this type of weather for a long time. Ok maybe at the start of the year but that was 12 months ago! It’s been 30+ everyday for the month of December while in Melbourne it has been raining. I just can’t believe it.
Anyways my time here has been fairly good besides the fact that Chileans think they have the right to say things about your body and insult you in a way that you can’t defend yourself because they say it as a question and you can’t defend yourself because of the language barrier you have. I kid you not, I was sitting have Christmas dinner with my family and my cousins husband’s father just asked me ‘oh you’re so fat’ and ‘how much do you weigh?’…. How was I suppose to respond to that?¿? I feel like whenever I meet new people I have to walk on egg shells. When I first arrived I knew my family would comment on my weight but they are family, my family, not some random cousins husband father or a friend. It’s the most frustrating thing about being here. And I don’t have my family support either. Only my mum’s sister and brother and my dad’s father plus cousins and so on.
I find it amazing that I get I miss the little things from home. Like reading a book or watching a movie without subtitles. Little things. Also how much I miss my mother and father and my two sisters. It feels like I haven’t seen them in a year. But now that I am away I am now grateful for everything they do for me and now they are now grateful for everything I do for them. I use to be my sisters’ driver because my mum gets tired all the time, now they don’t have me to take advantage of and I don’t have them to take advantage of them either.
I have come to realise that I have been living a easy life, a safe life, and that is not what life is suppose to be like. It’s suppose to be enjoyed. I am living with people who have nothing but are very happy with their lives. Even though money would help them a lot. I am not saying that they don’t have anything. They have a little something that we don’t have in Australia or in any other developed country. They have the struggle to survive and sometimes live without the basic items. But they are happy and they don’t complain as much as us in the developed countries that we live in.
Well I should just publish this post before i edit the crap out of it and never post it!
so i can go help them get the house ready for my family.
