This Week

Man I am getting so lazy with these posts. I just don’t have anything to write about. Ok so this week I just went to hang out with a new friend. She is so nice and we have loads in common. We went out during the week to Chadstone which was good. We went to lunch and just talked about life. It was really good to talk to someone as I don’t usually open up to people. We talked for about 2 hours at a cafe and then we went to Borders the bookshop. Oh how I love that shop. I would love to buy every book there and bring them home. Only if i had money! hehehe

So anyway we went to eat a early dinner and it was great. The next day we went to my new uni to buy my University Text Books. My uni is so beautiful.  It is so green and really nice landscape. We decided to go for a drive in the city were we got lost and ended up in Flemington Racecourse. I had to get the melways and try to get home lol but lucky for me i know how to read the melways :)

When i got home, my friend was still with me and i was burning her a dvd when my friends brother told me he was in an accident with his ex boyfriend. My friend and I raced out of the house and went to see the crash ourselves. When we got to the scene there was an ambulance and police people and my friends’ car was getting towed away. We decided to go to his house. We stayed there for awhile talking to his family then went to the hospital to see them. I hate going to the hospitals but i went anyways. He was fine with tissue damage in his chest but his ex bf was laying down with a neck brace which was so awful seeing him like that :( But he was fine also. They were lucky not getting into any serious damage :)

Bloody Melbourne Weather

I feel like I am in a sauna when I walk out of my house. The hot wind just wraps all around you. It is like hell on Earth. I just read on theage.com.au website that today was the hottest day in our history since the Bureau of Meteorology started keeping records 150 years ago. It got up to 46.4 degrees, 114 Fahrenheit.

It is truly to hot to be anywhere other than your air conditioned home or in a shopping centre or watching a movie in a cinema. And my sister actually went to beach. She is insane. If it was just a hot day without any wind or dust then it would be fun (only in heavy applied suncream) but it was windy and dusty and smokey. It has just been horrible. Last week Melbourne experienced 4 days over the 42 degrees mark. I don’t know why the weather is acting like this. Apperantly our previous hottest day was on January 13, 1939 with 45.6. If in 1939 had this intense heat wave as well then I really do not think that this weather is like because of Global Warming. Yes it might be a contributing factor in an extent but this weather is not that unusual then.

I don’t know anything about Meteorology so please don’t quote me on anything. I’m just making observations on the events that I am living through.

Melbourne Park + The Weather + Racist Article

Hi

A few days ago it was announced that the Brumby Government  has announce a full redevelopment of Melbourne Park to secure the Grand Slam to stay in Melbourne as there was rumours that Sydney and China were secretly bidding for the honour to host the Grand Slam. I have read that Dubai and other Asian countries have been interested and would love to host the Grand Slam in their city. I applaud Minister Brumby of making this decision to expand and put money, which is estimated at $300 million, to make Melbourne Park into a better facility for the players, media and the spectators.

I can’t wait till they start building, I’m not sure if it will be done for the 2010 Australian Open but it is suppose to be ready by 2016 because that is when the contract for Melbourne Park finishes up to host the Grand Slam.

I only found one picture of the new redevelopment from www.theage.com.au

The future looks bright for the future of the Australian Open in Melbourne. I would never want the Open to move to Sydney or any other city. I told a friend about the possibility of the Open to go to Sydney and they said that the attendance wouldn’t be as large as Melbourne’s and Sydney doesn’t have any of the facilities or a tennis stadium like Melbourne has.

Also I am very pissed off at a article that I found when looking for the above picture. Apparently a UK newspaper had the article saying that Australia is just too hot to host international sport and Britian has the right weather for sport. Excuse me but  Australia has much better weather and our summer actually feels like summer, not a retarded Spring. Yes, it may become extremely hot sometimes (such as this week, 40 degrees until Saturday) but saying Australia shouldn’t host any international sport or our teams are becoming poor players because of the heat.  The article was also racist to us Australians. Unbelievable. I didn’t even know you could be racist to Australians but here is a direct quote from the article:

Australia is no place to host big international sporting tournaments; except maybe the world kangaroo long-jump.

Can you believe that rubbish? And this quote also pissed me off:

They had a poor Olympics.

Who the hell wrote this garbage? Does anyone remember what IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch declared at the Closing Ceremony of the Sydney Olympics?

“I am proud and happy to proclaim that you have presented to the world the best Olympic Games ever.”

I’m sure the Athens or the Beijing Olympics had great Olympics also but saying Sydney had “poor Olympics” the nerve on the Poms!

I don’t mind any British people. (Their accents are sexy) I actually went to Britain and enjoyed my stay. But seeing racist and outrages articles like this one just spreads hate and bad opinions about my country. It’s not on. Yes I know I can’t stop articles like this one to pop up or change peoples opinions about Australia but I can voice my own opinions to object what they write. Thank God for Freedom of Speech!
