Rafael Nadal – Australian Open Champion

Nadal is our Australian Open for 2009. It was a freaking great match! a 5 setter and as nail biting as the last match Nadal played in against fellow Spaniard Fernando Versdasco.

When Roger Federer went to get his trophie for second place he surprised me when he started crying. I felt really sorry for and i think i like him just a tiny little bit now. He was sweet and he even thanked the audience (which i notice Nadal didn’t)

I’m going to miss the Australian Open. But all good things must come to an end… well until next year. :)

**EDIT**
I guess this will be one of my last tennis blog entries until maybe Roland Garros. But for your tennis fix go to  http://crazyworldoftennis.blogspot.com/

Nadal vs Verdasco

All i have to say is I am so glad a stayed up and watched the full match until the end. 5 hours and 14 minutes. How amazing is that?? That is the record time for a match in the Australian Open as this match lasted three minutes longer than the five hour 11 minute marathon played by Boris Becker and Omar Camporese in 1991.

I just wished that I had been in Rod Laver Arena last night. It would have been the best atmosphere. I would be on the edge of my seat. Maybe even falling off it!

I was going for Verdasco and wanted him to beat Nadal but i was not dissapointed on how he played.

I can’t wait to see the final!

Fernando Gonzalez

Hi

As you have read I am into my tennis. Well maybe just Fernando Gonzalez and sometimes Rafael Nadal.

And yes i have not made a real blog entry in awhile and i have a good excuse for it. I have been to the Australian Open every 2 days this week (so four times) and everyday i come home tired and what not.

The first game i watched was the Fernando Gonzalez vs Llyton Hewitt. I was sure Gonzalez would win but after the first set i knew Hewitt wasn;t going down without a fight. After winning two sets against Llyton, Gonzalez lost concentration losing the 4th set of the game. It was a terrific 5th set, within 41 minutes Gonzalez won the match against the Aussie Favourite Llyton Hewitt.
The scores were: (Gonzalez’s score is in Bold)
5-7 6-2 6-3 3-6 6-3

The came 2nd round where Gonzalez went up against a fellow South American opponent, from Argentina, Guillermo Canas. I got to the match early as it was on a outside court and I knew all the chilean cheer squad would be going there to get the best seats, we left the house at 8 am. When we got there of course there were chileans already but i was suprised to see a whole column of Aussie Supports were at the match as well. And they decided to cheer for the chileans.  So the match went on and Gonzalez won the game in 3 straight sets (5-7 3-6 4-6).

The saturday night match would have to be one of the best matches I have seen Gonzalez play in. The first two sets i was so sure he would lose the match but he all surprised us and started to win back the match. The atmosphere was electric because on the 3rd they had a tie breaker and everytime Gonzalez was 1 up from the french guy he always would stumble and the french guy, Gasquet, would always catch up. It was edge of your seat action match and i don’t think i will experience that type of game for a long time. (well at least maybe next Australian Open)
The score was 6-3 6-3 6-7 (10-12) 2-6 10-12.

As I am writing this Nadal just beat Gonzalez in 3 straight sets 6-2 6-3 6-4.
He gave his all but Nadal was too good for him at the end. I wish Gonzalez a great year for his Grand Slam Career. Bring on the Roland Garros. :-)
