Ex Work + University

Hi,

I havn’t written anything since the tennis finished last sunday. I guess I’m going through some tennis withdrawal problem :-( … I’m sure I’ll get over it.

On Monday morning I finally received this Certificate of Employment Separation from my ex-work and now I can finally apply for Centrelink and maybe try to look for a god-damn apartment near my university. I don’t think I have written anything about University and moving out in this blog, well I have mentioned it in the About My Blog and I page but I don’t think many people go and read that.

Ok anyways last year I was working full time in the city of Melbourne as a legal secretary for a small law firm (small as in one lawyer and 3 secretaries in an office space smaller than my lounge room) earning just under $500 a week but travelling for about 4 hours to and fro everyday in car, train and tram. I got sick of that routine fairly quickly. Especially in Summer of 07/08 working while my friends were out partying and having fun at the beach, tennis etc while i was stuck in a little office do the most repetitive work known to man kind. It was just so horrible. Yes I was working and making money but in the long run I knew I would be in the same position as the junior secretary while my boss brought in other people while I’m stuck doing briefs, stocking shelves, filing and making the lawyer her afternoon tea. At the 10 month came about I decided to quit. And Thank God I Did! I was going  crazy as the solicitor always used to play mind games and fucked me up with them! (she isn’t stable, all those years in Law School must have fried her brain. She had no common sense, she didn’t even know how to use a computer, send email or even work her mobile)

I just had enough of that career. It just wasn’t for me. So I was unemployed because I had to stay home as my mother and sister went overseas to see my mothers’ sister because she got cancer. So I was stuck at home cleaning with my dad and other sister. My mother was gone for 2 months. It wasn’t a good 2 months but that’s a whole other story.

When she got back I decided not to go back to the legal secretary career and decided to give university a try. I tried to get into uni before in 2008 for mid year intake but I didn’t get accepted. So I tried in October and in December I got an offer in International Development. I was so nervous when my mother gave me the Vtac envelope. I didn’t even know they had Early Round Offers for Mature Aged Enterees. When I read the letter, I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it. I would never have thought that I would ever get accepted into unversity. No one in my family on my dads side has ever gone to University, so I would be the first Nunez to go to University and at high school I was not a high achiever. And the beauty of it is that I got offered the course that I picked as my number 1 preference.

The courses’ major study areas are Anthropology, Economics, History, Linguistics, Politics and Sociology. My university is like 1 hours + a few minutes away by car (i can’t even guess by public transport, probs like 2 hours +) so this mean I would have to move out of home so I am closer to the University. I have tried to get some centrelink payment last year but they told me I would have to wait until I started class’. That is ridiculous. I need to get my uni books, stationary and move out and I was just told to wait for the funding I need. Yes I have my parents support as well and yes I could have gotten a job and saved up during summer. Well probably not getting a job during summer and as I would have to quit after 2 months and that would be unfair on the employer for wasting time and money on me.

So I am trying to look for an apartment, getting my books organised and applying for youth allowence again hoping they accept my claim so I can have a stress free first term/semester.  I am nervous of the workload as I get distracted alot and lazy. But I guess University is different than High School because you want to be there and aren’t really getting forced to study.

Well this was just a little essay on my situation. And if you read it all, I would want to apologise for my grammar :-)

My birthday + 21st Birthday Party

Hi

It’s my birthday today on the 01/02/2009!

I am 22 now! I’m getting old! hehe

I had a party on today with my family and i got money, alcohol and a manicare set from my family. And later on the week i’m having a dinner with friends. Also i recieved this certificate of seperation from my ex employer so now i can finally recieve centrelink benefits and move out of home., I can’t wait.

Oh i also went to my friends 21st last night and that was pretty cool. I had fun, even tho i wasn’t drinking.  I left at midnight and went to the pubs with a few friends to meet up a friend that we left inside the pub earlier. He actually left the pub so we had to look for him. We found him at the beach really drunk so we stayed with him until he recovered and then he decided to walk off to try to get into another club. My friends and I just stayed at the beach having deep and meaningful conversation. By that time it was 3.45 so we decided it was best to go home.

When i got home, my sister was still awake so we talked until it was 4.30 and then i couldnt fall asleep so i watched a little tv and finally fell asleep by 6 am. My parents woke me up at 11 am :( so i can go help them get the house ready for my family.

Well i know this blog entry isn’t as good as my other blogs (eg. in depth, grammer) so sorry about that.

I’ll writing another blog entry soon :-)
